What? The Jonas Brothers Are Back?
Eric
Ever since the release of the song “Year 3000”, the Jonas Brothers were catapulted into superstardom and childhood fame. Since they were just a little bit older than generation Z, they become icons and role models for every kid. Every guy wanted to be Joe. Every girl wanted to date Nick, and everyone just felt bad because Kevin didn’t receive the attention that he deserved.
The release self-titled sophomore album introduced the songs, “SOS”, “Hold On” and “When You Look Me in The Eyes”. These songs elevated their hype and following even more, even to the point of giving them the slot as opening acts for various artists such as the Backstreet Boys.
After the release of the movie “Camp Rock” seemed like they had disappeared into the depths of nostalgia. Joe Jonas came forth with his new band, DNCE that debuted the song “Cake by The Ocean” which went triple platinum in the U.S. and slid up the Billboard Charts to the no. 9 spot.
Then finally, after a 6-year hiatus, the brothers returned. On March 1st, 2019, the Jonas Brothers released the comeback song of the year “Sucker”. The song features a poppy composition that is coupled with spicy lyrics to let us know that they were the same boys, but they had become men that had had manly experiences. The hype surrounding their return was huge but now the hype has somewhat died down.
However, the Jonas Brothers are inevitably back together and making music. With their return, do you think that they will spark the return of other nostalgia acts? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
