Students from North Greenville University are celebrating their accomplishments after competing in the 2017 National Religious Broadcasters convention in Orlando last week.

The university sent dozens of volunteers to help work the convention, and sent two teams to compete in the 24-hour Intercollegiate National Religious Broadcasters competition. The competition focused on three different categories of media: audio, video and news. The goal for each team was to create the best production in their category, and turn it in within 24 hours.

North Greenville featured a video team and an audio team in the competition, and both of them faced stiff competitors from other schools such as Liberty University, the University of Northwestern Saint Paul, Bob Jones University and others.

After the results came in, the North Greenville audio team finished in second place, while the video team came in third. The University of Northwestern Saint Paul won both the video and news challenges, while Liberty University took first place in the audio challenge.

There were also several Intercollegiate (iNRB) awards given out for different competitions that were not part of the three 24-hour challenges. Categories included best music video, best video PSA and best news and sports audio. North Greenville won the award for best TV newscast.

Shurjit Gopal, a mass communications professor and chairman of the iNRB, is satisfied with North Greenville performance in Orlando. “I have nothing to complain about, by the grace of God,” said Gopal. “I was pretty confident about the competition. I knew I was taking two power packed teams, and both teams did not let me down.”

The primary sponsor of the iNRB competition was Christian Vision Global, also known as CV Global, and Gopal credits their hard work and excellence as a big reason for the competition’s success.

He also believes their partnership will lead to other great things in the future for NRB. “CV has tremendous contacts with many Christian schools across the country,” said Goapl. “iNRB is going to become larger, by the grace of God.”
