Debate has risen about whether Christians should be buying Girl Scout cookies after the Girl Scouts Association endorsed Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger.

A recent upset has been caused among different Christian organizations because one local troop endorsed Margaret Sanger as a good role model for young girls. Sanger is known for founding Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion chain in the nation. Christians are unsure of whether it’s moral to be purchasing cookies if they think their money is going towards supporting a company that performs abortions.

Although local troops think Sanger may be a good role model, the Girl Scouts Association do not endorse or have any relationship with the Planned Parenthood organization. The money from cookie sales goes to support local girls in the community. They are generally trying to fund their own troops, or plan for outings to museums or take trips as a troop. Each troop has its own goals for cookie sales.

Each box of cookies is an investment into the future of the girls who sell the cookies. Although individual groups are endorsing people who could be in support of modern feminism, the groups really just want to empower young girls to be all that they can be in a positive way. Christians should still support their local Girl Scouts and buy cookies to their hearts’ content because the money is simply supporting their local community of girls.
