TIGERVILLE, S.C. — North Greenville University’s Board of Trustees approved the naming of two academic colleges during its Feb. 26 winter meeting, honoring leaders whose contributions helped shape the university’s history. The decision establishes the first two named colleges in NGU’s history.

The College of Humanities and Sciences will be renamed the M.C. Donnan College of Humanities and Sciences, honoring former university leader M.C. Donnan. The change will take effect June 1, 2026.

A native of Greer, Donnan served as the last principal of North Greenville Baptist Academy when the institution operated as a secondary school. He later became the university’s chief executive, serving from 1928 to 1962. During his tenure, he helped guide the institution through significant growth and transition.

The Board also approved the naming of the T. Walter & Christine M. Brashier College of Health Sciences, recognizing the longtime support of philanthropists T. Walter and Christine Brashier.

The College of Health Sciences houses NGU’s largest graduate program and is the university’s fastest-growing academic area. NGU President Dr. Gene C. Fant, Jr. reported that the university recorded a milestone this spring with more than 300 graduate students enrolled, marking the highest graduate enrollment in the institution’s history.
