The start of the baseball season at North Greenville University looks to begin with a challenging and exciting outlook as the team prepares to face the final year of some of its great players, such as Zach Zarra, Dawson Taylor and Pat Monteith.

These three players are a key part of the baseball team here at North Greenville University. These players have decided to reveal their reflections and perspectives that provide a more detailed look at the dynamics that are employed and the team.

Zach Zarra, a senior reflects on the transition of the team after coming off a very good year and the loss of great players such as John Michael. “This year, we find ourselves with a renewed and different team. While we have lost some key players, we are excited about the quality of our pitchers, who are fully prepared to face the challenges ahead of us,” Zarra said.

Looking ahead, Zarra includes this year’s long-awaited opportunity to return to the Division 2 Baseball World Series, “Our expectations are at an all-time high this season. We firmly believe in our potential as a team to achieve great feats,” Zarra said.

On the other hand, another great player that the baseball team has in its ranks is Dawson Taylor. This senior left-handed pitcher has feedback from his last season here at North Grenville.

With previous championship experience, Taylor is looking forward to victory this season, “Our identity as a team has undergone significant changes this year. We have focused on winning more strategically, taking advantage of every opportunity on the field to secure the win,” Taylor said.

At the end of the season, Taylor is looking forward to the opportunity to make it to the big leagues and be drafted by an MLB team. “My desire is to be drafted and continue my career in professional baseball while proudly representing NGU,” Taylor said.

Last but not least, the champion of the 2022 season is Pat Monteith. His personality and versatility within the team make him a key player, as, like many of his teammates, Monteith is hoping for a national championship in his senior year.

Monteith acknowledges that this year’s dynamic is also a bit different, as is his teammate, Zarra, as it is certainly a challenge for everyone to go far this year.

“Although we don’t have the ‘big hitters’ of previous years, we still have the potential to win the national championship. My commitment is to give my best to contribute to the team’s success,” Monteith said.

Monteith, like Taylor, is looking forward to a call-up to the MLB draft. “I aspire to be selected in the MLB draft and continue my professional career, carrying with me the values and passion I have cultivated at NGU,” Monteith said.

As the season progresses, the North Greenville University baseball team prepares to build on the accomplishments of previous years and reach the World Series. With the help of these three players, the possibilities are always within reach.
