January kicked off the start of NGU men’s volleyball, and the team already started off on top.
The Crusaders traveled to Tusculum University for their first match of the season and came back with a win.
North Greenville was victorious against the Pioneers, winning 3 sets to 1. The Crusaders were able to take the first two sets but unfortunately lost in the third. The team bounced back in the fourth and won the set and the game.
The North Greenville men’s volleyball team has a history of taking the W. The team ended it’s 2021 season with a 13-5 winning record and made it to the semifinals of the Conference Carolinas tournament.
Newcomer Blake Petteway is a freshman on the team, and he said he is filled with anticipation for the season and can’t wait to accomplish many “firsts” with his new team.
Petteway said, “First game as a collegiate athlete, first win on a collegiate team, first top-10 ranking, first time traveling to cool new places, and we hope, first appearance for NGU in the NCAA tournament.”
Petteway said he is excited to be on a team that is passionate, special, and dynamic. He has high hopes for his team and believes they have the drive to achieve many goals.
“There is hard work ahead, but we are excited to put in whatever it takes!”
