Hawkeye on Disney+ released during Thanksgiving break

Disney+ has been giving Marvel fans everything that they could ask for this past year. Disney+ has already released four Marvel original series on their platform, beginning with WandaVision, released on Jan. 15.

Ending the year will be their fifth original Marvel series, Hawkeye, which is centered around one of their original Avenger heroes: Clint Barton. Barton will be teaming up with a young hero named Kate Bishop during the Christmas season.

After his past has caught up with him, Barton will have to get the help of a young archer in order to get back to his family in time for Christmas. The first trailer for the series has been released and the show aired on Disney+ on Nov. 24.

North Greenville is filled with Marvel fans who are excited about this show. Harrison Kunselman is excited to see one of his favorite Marvel characters on the screen again.

“I don’t get to see a lot of the character in the movies, so I am very excited to see how the show grows his character and develops past what the movies told,” Kunselman said.

Barton, played by Jeremy Renner, has been a mainstay in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the first Thor movie in 2011. But, this will be the first time that Barton will be the main hero of a story on screen.

The show is based loosely off the comic run by Marvel writer David Aja. While not much of the plot has been revealed yet, there are some rumors for some big things.

“I heard that a ton of new Marvel characters are going to be introduced into this show.” said Garrick Hagan, a North Greenville junior. “One of my favorite villains, Kingpin, is rumored to show up.”

Of 206 North Greenville students that participated in a poll, 97% said they were excited for the show. With the show landing right in the middle of Thanksgiving Break, students had plenty of time to enjoy it.
