National Peanut Butter Lovers Day is March 1, 2018. Peanut butter is a worldwide favorite treat with many different tasty ways to be enjoyed. The creamy, nut flavored spread can be mixed or combined to make a delightful treat.
There are many fun facts about peanut butter that most people don’t know. One 12-ounce jar of peanut butter takes approximately 540 peanuts to make. The oldest manufacturer and seller of peanut butter has been operating since 1908.
At the Universal Exposition in St. Louis, peanut butter was sold for the first time in the U.S. by C.H. Sumner. He sold $705.11 worth of peanut butter. The Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup came to America in 1928. Americans spend approximately $800 million on peanut butter in one year.
Peanut butter is very well known for being combined with jelly to make PB&J sandwiches, but there are many other ways to eat it. There are two types of peanut butter: Smooth and Chunky. Peanut butter can be used to make sweet treats or savory dishes. Many great candies have been made with peanut butter as well.

By the time an average American child graduates, they have eaten about 1,500 peanut butter sandwiches. Just about every family in the U.S. has at least one jar of peanut butter in the house.
