Austin Dixon, 23, on NGU men’s lacrosse team, was named player of the week by the Conference Carolinas.

Dixon collected 10 points within the week while playing in two games against Coker College and Shorter University. Dixon had five goals and three assists in the game against Shorter University and the Crusaders finished the game 22-5. Then NGU took on Coker College defeating them 12-6, with the help of Dixon’s five goals and one assist.

Dixon started as a freshman playing for the Crusaders. He had 65 points by the end of his first collegiate season. Some 39 of those points were goals he scored and the other 26 were assists he accumulated while helping his teammates score.

Dixon also has a twin, Braeden Dixon (36) that plays men’s lacrosse as well. “I love being able to play this sport with my brother… We really push each other to be better everyday,” said Dixon.

Dixon is from Simpsonville, S.C. and went to Eastside High School in Taylors, S.C. While in high school, Dixon was a captain for two years on his team.  He also received many awards during his high school career. He got the title of All-Region the four years he was there and All-State the last three.

He went to a lacrosse camp the summer before going into middle school and has been playing ever since. “It’s crazy how that one camp started me on the lacrosse journey that has brought me to so many places and people and gotten me to where I am today.”
