From paying tribute to one of North Greenville’s most accomplished coaches to video taping and editing spring football scrimmages, senior broadcasting major Armon Lindsay stops at nothing to get his name exposed in the world of media. Lindsay is the primary voice behind the independent network #2SpoonsProduction.

“#2SpoonsProduction is a media outlet for businesses to be exposed to another audience and to shine light on those that don’t get the recognition they deserve,” said Lindsay.

Submerging himself in YouTube videos and other media networks, Lindsay was inspired to chase after his own outlet and use it to tell the stories of local artists as well as athletes like himself.

“I watch so many YouTube videos like VladTV and The Breakfast Club,” said Lindsay. “I like what they do so I chose to take the sporting aspect, as well as entertainment like local rappers, singers, and stuff,” he continued.

The start of #2SpoonsProductions derived from Lindsay’s desire to be an entrepreneur and be different.

“My network is independent because I don’t want anybody to have control of my creation, so if someone is funding me, they would have say in what content I display,” Lindsey said.

The former NGU football left guard expressed his desire to eventually partner with other media organizations, but for now plans to stay independent.

Promotion for #2SpoonsProduction relies heavily on the power of social media, but also by word of mouth.  “I do have a loyal fan base and I wish to be worldwide one day,” Lindsay said.  “I try to display my content and my portfolios on all media sites.  I also give out business cards and try to do word of mouth,” he continued.

Lindsay prefers to use Facebook as his main source of reaching out to his target audience.  “I like Facebook because I have a wide demographic from young kids to older adults like my mom’s friends and church members,” Lindsay said.

The production of videos for Lindsay’s network is a one-man show as Lindsey brainstorms, records, edits and perfects all of his projects.  After getting his ideas on paper during pre-production and getting all of his needed equipment, the show then begins.

Through his network, Lindsay has gained the opportunity to bring recognition to athletes like himself.  “I have interviewed Freddie Martino, an NGU alum, who plays in the NFL, as well as my friends who are playing collegiate ball,” said Lindsay. He also interviewed Jayne Arledge, the women’s basketball coach for NGU.

Lindsay has also brought the spotlight to local artists around his area, including a friend trying to make it into the music business.

“My favorite interview has to be the one with my friend Kaleb Hemphill.  He is a rapper and is making it mainstream.  He was my favorite because I used different camera techniques to make his interview look professional,” Lindsay said.

The experience Lindsay has had with his multitude of interviews and projects has made his network stand out among the rest.  “I’m different because I want to connect to people on a personal level so its really conversational,” Lindsay said.

Lindsay’s hopes and dreams for the future of his network including tapping into more of the art industry and having household names on his show.

The name #2SpoonsProductions came from Lindsay’s continuous ambition for his outlet as well as himself.

“#2Spoons means I am always grinding,” Lindsay said.  “When you normally eat you have one spoon or fork, but me I am doubling the portion with 2 spoons so I am working harder than anyone else.”
