Sports Briefs: A look through the World of sports

Last weekend in our very own back yard in Tigerville, the North Greenville Crusader men’s and women’s basketball teams hosted senior day against the Lees-McRae Bobcats. The Lady Crusaders were looking to send a statement in the attempt to send their Head coach Jayne Arledge in her final home game as head coach out on top; Arledge has coached the Lady Crusaders for the past 36 years. The Ladies team would dominate the bobcats 77-56.
The men’s Crusader team match would be a little different as they would go head-to-head with the Bobcats until the final mintues of the game. The team’s late run would be sparked by senior Troy Blyden and senior Miguel Cartagena; both would finish as the team’s top two scorers with 15 points a piece. Looking to send their seniors out in style the Crusaders would finish off Lees-McRae 81-77.

This weekend was All-Star weekend in the NBA, one of the most exciting weekends in sports.
it was a time when the fans, pro athletes and former NBA players came to watch the game’s very best, players like Lebron James , Russell Westbrook, Steph Curry and others. The highlight of the weekend was the same dunk contest; Glenn Robinson III would take home the title as Slam Dunk Champion, dethroning last year’s champ Aaron Gordon.
Now with the NBA season half way through, teams arelooking to add pieces to make a championship run. With the NBA trade deadline drawing nea,r owners and GMs are doing whatever it takes to land a big time player on their rosters. Within less than two hours of the All-Star game ending, the game’s arguable best “big man” in Demarcus “Boogie” Cousins was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans;,ironically where the all-star game took place.
International
In International play the Canadian Football League’s off season is in full effect as a “Trade Frenzy” is taking place as players are being traded left and right , while head coach potions around the the league are uncertain. The future of the league is bright and steadily growing but what road they will take is unsure.
