NGU announces new clubs
North Greenville University announced two new student initiated clubs that are forming on campus.
NGU Swim Team Club is looking for students who are interested in competitive swimming. An interest meeting will be held on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. in the Student Center Conference Room.
NGU Motorsports Club is looking for students who are interested in any form on motorsports. The interest meeting for the forming club will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. in the Student Center Conference Room.
Local Lawsuit With Greenville Police
A lawsuit was brought against the Greenville Police Department after policeman tased Tario Anderson, 34, who is autistic on Christmas Eve 2014, after hearing gun shots around Augusta St. in Greenville. According to officials, the officers identified themselves and asked Anderson to stop three times and after no response, they chased him, deploying the taser. The lawsuit was filed on August 17, 2015 and will be settled in court.

200,000 Evacuated In California
Approximately 200,000 residents of Oroville, Calif. are under evacuation due to emergency spillway at the nation’s largest dam that could lead to dangerous floodwaters if it fails. The evacuation was ordered February 12, 2017, after officials spotted a crack in the Lake Oroville’s nearly 800-foot tall dam.
Pilot Spooks Passengers
A pilot from United Airlines boarded a plane out of uniform on February 11 and eventually went on a “long, bizarre speech” over the plane’s intercom, spooking over a dozen passengers. She touched on Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton and her own divorce. This outburst delayed the plane, traveling from Austin, Tx. to San Francisco, for two hours, waiting on the replacement pilot.

Bell Ringer Hung In Front Of Congregation
Ian Bowman, a bell ringer, got his foot stuck in the rope that clang to the bell in a bell tower at Worcester Cathedral in the U.K. on Feb. 11, leaving him hanging in front of the entire congregation. Bowman had to be lowered approximately 100 feet after firefighters rescued him. Bowman suffered from a head wound and a fractured backbone.
