Cable companies are dwindling out faster and faster as streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Amazon Prime Video take over.

Its easy for students to watch shows online. Its often used as a way to procrastinate, or to keep people busy when theyre bored. The reason fewer people are watching cable is because of how easy it is to access streaming services. My favorite part of Netflix is being able to watch what I want when I want, said junior Graham Brooks.

Across the various different websites, there are tons of options of shows to choose from. Netflix releases things monthly and makes it easy to binge watch across devices without ads or commercials. Netflix is a fan favorite among many college students.

Hulu offers a range of shows that are currently on TV and offers viewers a chance to watch shows as soon as theyre premiered on TV with a premium subscription. There are options of watching a limited number of episodes for free, but there are ads, even with a premium subscription.

“I like that I can watch stuff [on Hulu] before it goes on Netflix because it’s more recent. I like to watch Cake Boss,” said Audrey Salaita.

A lesser known service is Amazon Prime Video. Most people have heard of Amazon Prime, but often fail to realize they have access to a sum of videos on demand. Lots of students have their own Prime accounts already, but do not take advantage of this feature of their membership. Amazon also offers a small range of things for free. There is also the option of buying things individually that stay on an individual’s account.

Among the three services, Netflix is the most popular and has the most viewers per month because of the price and easy availability.
