A new sushi restaurant comes to TR

Traveler’s Rest welcomes Sushi Yama, a new restaurant bringing new flavors to the community.
Sushi Yama serves Japanese cuisine including sushi, soups, noodles and various hibachi items. The restaurant’s exterior is no match for the Japanese delicacies found inside.
For first time sushi goers, servers are willing to help those unfamiliar with the exotic cuisine. For those who consider themselves sushi connoisseurs or for those feeling adventurous, an order of the chef’s choice allows for an exciting experience.
Upon browsing the menu, I decided on the miso soup and a Philadelphia roll. Not even two bites into my meal did I realize my choice was an excellent one.
The best part of the experience was watching them make the sushi.
The sushi rolls are slightly larger than I have seen before, but no complaints from my table.
For those picky eaters who don’t care for the sushi, the hibachi shrimp is fantastic. The fried rice has a good seasoning that really brings out the flavor instead of overpowering the rest of the ingredients.
The Miso Soup is excellent and warming, great for cold weather and sick days. I honestly liked it better than the sushi, but maybe that was just because it was 30 degrees outside.
There isn’t a delivery option, but take out is provided and totally worth it.
Overall Sushi Yama is an excellent restaurant and I cannot wait to go again.
