Celebrating Black History Month: Allen West – Herman Cain
Since 1976, every U.S. President has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month — a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in U.S. history. The event grew out of “Negro History Week,” the brainchild of noted historian Carter G. Woodson and other prominent African Americans. This year, “The Vision’s” political writer is taking a look at prominent African Americans who are considered political conservatives. We invite your comments on our opinions.

Allen West is a great American. He served the U.S. Army reaching a rank of lieutenant colonel. West’s military awards include the Air Assault Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal and the Army Achievement Medal.
Many military personnel who worked with West say they have the utmost respect for this soldier. After leaving military service, Lt. Colonel West became Representative West from Florida in 2010 and later he became a contributor for Fox News.
His book release of “Guardian of the Republic “made a big splash in April 2014.
The Conservative movement today has some shining stars pressing forward to lead and West is certainly one of those top 10. Many people would like to see West run for President and have alluded to the idea that West would make a strong Vice President for a ticket in 2016. In his personal life he is a proud Christian who displays his family values with his wife Angela M. Graham West and their two daughters.
He is a motorcycle enthusiast who can often be seen leading the way when the Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club rides for charity. Lt. Colonel Allen West is great role model for the youth today.
If you have never heard of Herman Cain, I don’t know where you have been hiding.
Cain has many accomplishments, such as a B.S. in Mathematics from Morehouse College and an M.S. in computer science from Purdue University. He served in the U.S. Department of the Navy, was Vice President of Pillsbury, was an executive at Burger king, was CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, was chairman of the Federal Reserve bank of Kansas city, served on the Kemp Commission and was CEO of the National Restaurant Association.
He served on the board of directors of Aquila, Inc, Nabisco, Whirlpool, Reader’s Digest and AGCO. As if that was not enough work for anybody, he then began to get involved with politics.
In 2011 Cain joined the presidential race and proposed revising our dysfunctional tax system with his 9-9-9 flat tax plan. He was leading Obama in the early polls until the media found a way to slow him down by accusing him of a situation of sexual misconduct, which he consistently denied, but the damage had been done and subsequently he was forced to drop out of the race.
Cain is known for his straightforward, no nonsense style of conversation, which earned him a regular guest spot on the Neil Bortz radio program at WBS Radio in Atlanta. Bortz, who authored several books on the flat tax, became a strong ally of Cain’s.
After Bortz retired Cain took over the time slot of the Neil Bortz show with The Herman Cain Show, which is the main anchor program for WSB Radio to this day. I am sure that you will be hearing more from Cain in radio, print and American politic.
