Student-led Renewal: It’s more than just a chapel service

Student-led Renewal was a time for students to hear their peers’ stories, but ultimately it was a time for everyone to hear the greatest story ever told — the Gospel.
Chapel took on a different role as students were able to hear from their friends about different stories in the Bible and how those stories point to Christ and can be applied in a college setting.
The week involved students telling the story of Jesus through different media, such as music, art and literature, along with sermons.
Here’s how Student-led Renewal impacted some students.
What was your favorite part about Student-led Renewal and why?

“I really liked the people who led worship because it was refreshing and there were different songs that we hadn’t heard before. I enjoyed seeing more people get involved and play onstage. ”
What impacted you the most about being involved in Student-led Renewal?

“I have always dreamed about being a part of a body that uses all forms of art to worship. Tuesday night that dream became real when the student body collaborated to bring the Gospel to life through art.”
What impacted you the most?

“What impacted me the most was the different ways that the story of the life of Jesus was told and how moving it was through the dancing, painting and spoken word. It all spoke truth of the Gospel. ”
What was your favorite part about Student-led Renewal and why?

“I liked that it was student led because I’ve never been to one before. It was good to see my peers worshipping through their many talents.”
What impacted you the most about being involved in Student-led Renewal?

“I enjoyed getting to work in community with other believers and I enjoyed getting to write the poem and to preach the Gospel through it.”

“Getting to write a song based solely on Scripture was really cool. I just let God write it through me because I didn’t know how to write it on my own. Being involved with different people and different talents and coming together as a community to display our talents for Jesus was an awesome experience.”
