In the news, now a days, you constantly hear about race and how there is a lack of diversity everywhere. So far, these conversations have involved things like entertainment, politics, etc. But could the conversation be spreading to the sports world? I went to one of my favorite sports, baseball, to see if that was the case.
North Greenville University had it’s first ever ESPY Awards ceremony, which was hosted by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes on April 21st.
At NGU, Smith stepped right in as a freshman and eventually became the starting catcher. This season, which was set to be Smith�s final season as a Crusader, he suffered a lower back injury that caused him to be sidelined the remainder of the 2016 season.
According to Athletic Department Director Micah Sepko, �The new NGU track and field facility will be finished during the summer of 2016.�

In a close match at their last home game of the season, NGU was sadly defeated 3-2. After the game there was a senior ceremony where senior, Jake Jenkins and grad, Jon Childes were recognized for their contributions to the team.
Lindsay said of his last season, �It’s bittersweet. I�m happy that I�m almost done, but at the same time I�m going to miss playing ball with my brothers.”
