Homecoming time in Tigerville

Homecoming week for North Greenville was one that nobody is soon to forget. Starting the week off with events like volleyball tournaments, free bowling, and an epic relay race. The week ended with one of the most entertaining events Tigerville has ever seen.
The various clubs of North Greenville banded together for a tailgate competition that consisted of games, food, and music.
“I helped set up the Student Government tent for the tailgate.” junior Jarred Miller said. “We set up a grill for hotdogs, had tons of chips, and we were throwing around a football.”
The tailgate competition was judged based off of plates of food, activities provided, and overall atmosphere. It was a tough competition, but the Fellowship of Christian Athletes took home the prize thanks to their delicious hotdogs and TV’s set up playing the football game.
Students and Faculty ran around the tailgate, participating in the various activities provided by the different clubs. The Resident Assistant’s tent had fun games like corn-hole, while BCM had giant inflatable balls to run around in.
The tailgate was not the only competition happening that day. The big question on everyone’s mind was who was going to take home the prestigious title of Homecoming Queen.
“All of the girls had to line up in their different vehicles for the parade.” Bethany Lipscomb, a member of the homecoming court, said.
Lined up with roses pinned to their dresses, the cars made their way around the stadium to the adoration of the students, faculty, and parents cheering them on. After the parade was over, all of the fans made their way into the stadium for kick-off.
As the Crusaders fought hard for a victory on the football field, the homecoming court was preparing for half-time. NGU’s 2018 Homecoming Queen Allison Lipe was escorted by NGU President Gene Fant. She would lead the way for the girls competing for the crown.
After a short performance of “Thriller” by Michael Jackson from the NGU marching band, the winning woman was announced.
Abby Blackwood, senior, took home the tiara, ending an amazing homecoming week for North Greenville University.
