NGU’s Homecoming is no longer a blast from the past

Homecoming made its way back to campus after being canceled due to COVID-19 last year.
Makenzie Swearingen, NGU senior and SLT said, “I am so excited that this is the first homecoming event in two years.”
The opening ceremony was held at the Rec Complex outside the cafeteria. The ceremony included a fireworks shows, the singing of the National Anthem and the lighting of the torch. The Crusader Band led the dorms around the volleyball court and then, the games began.
This year, Student Engagement put a twist on the Homecoming events. Usually, the competitions are between school clubs but this time they were between dorms.
Throughout the week, dorms competed in volleyball, corn hole, bowling and many other games.
Each female dorm had a male dorm competing with them to win the title of champion.
Tailgates also returned this year, and students were able to turn up the music, grill burgers and play games before the Homecoming football game.
Students packed the house to cheer on the Crusaders and to see who won Homecoming queen.
