A wing and a prayer

Statistically, air travel is the safest way to get from point A to point B. However, long-haul international flights involving Rolls Royce engines have suffered several major equipment failures in 2017.
Rolls Royce aerospace is one of the largest publicly traded engineering companies in the world. Their customers have included Boeing, Airbus, Gulfstream and Lockheed-Martin. The two engine types in question–the Trent 700 and Trent 900–are used exclusively on long-haul Airbus jets.
Some media outlets have noticed a correlation between these seemingly isolated engine failures. Three have occurred on the same aircraft type, all have occurred on the same brand of aircraft and all happened when the engines were operating in high-power conditions such as takeoff and climbing.
