Furman University will be hosting a live simulcast event in need of volunteers at their Younts Conference Center. On October 6, 2017 from 8 a.m. to noon, students will have the opportunity to aid event planners, eat breakfast and hear speeches from Dave Ramsey, John Maxwell, Warrick Dunn and Cheryl Bachelder.

NGU Theatre auditions

The Theatre Department invites all who are willing to audition for one of three productions at the School of Theatre�s Acting Studio on October 3, 2017. Those auditioning can try out for the �WAYYY OFF BROADWAY� Student Showcase and �It�s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play� at 4 p.m. and �Backlash�, an original one-act play by NGU�s own Jonathan Sieberhagen, at 6 p.m.

The Vox Series

All students are cordially invited to the 1st Annual Interdisciplinary Studies Alumni Talk, The Vox Series. On October 3 at 7 p.m., in the Hayes Ministry Center, Guest Speaker Nathan Sundt will discuss how to �Find[ing] your voice,� and �Be[ing] a voice for the voiceless.�

Las Vegas massacre

58 people were murdered and over 500 were injured in Las Vegas last night at a country music concert featuring Jason Aldean. Witnesses say the gunfire initially sounded like fireworks, until they noticed the people around them hitting the ground. The prime suspect is a 64-year-old man named Stephen Paddock who committed suicide shortly before police broke into the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino where Paddock�s shots originated.

Toys R Us bankruptcy

Toys R Us filing Chapter 11 Bankruptcy could not have come at a worse time for toy manufactures. As the holiday season looms ahead, Toys R Us owes $7.5 billion to a variety of toy companies, from Mattel ($136 million) to Lego ($32 million).

OJ Simpson released

Former football and Hollywood star OJ Simpson was released from prison mere minutes after midnight on Sunday. In the interest of avoiding public attention, Simpson made his way to his new home in Las Vegas with no fanfare.

This is one rodent students wouldn�t want to find in their dorm rooms. Ranger Hikuna Judge discovered the rumored eighteen-inch Uromys Vika this past Wednesday in the Solomon Islands.

Catalan wins right to independence

Despite obstacles placed by the Spanish government and the police, Catalan gained the votes necessary to declare independence from Spain. Catalan�s conviction held strong, despite a referendum period where over 800 people were injured in conflicts. The Spanish government, however, has made it clear it will not let Catalan�s autonomy stand.

Unused train to be refurbished

Few thought the long-forgotten �Titanic of the Mountains�, with its 365 windows and 200-meter-long platforms would ever see the light of day. Now, after having been transformed into a tourist attraction several years ago, the Aragorn government hopes to transform the once grandiose station into a hotel.
