NGU’s Media Ministry team takes on Uruguay
Meghan Salinas, Staff Writer
North Greenville University’s students majoring in Media Ministry traveled to Montevideo, Uruguay during spring break for their Missionary Media Ministry class. They helped share the gospel through media, audio and film. Students were also able to train with Radio Trans Mundial which has a partnership with Trans World Radio (TWR).
This was a total new experience for Radio Trans Mundial because this was the first time they have ever had a team come in from the US. Students who went on this week-long trip created vlogs daily of new things learned, adventures and even what God has taught them through the process. Students did not lose sight of their video cameras at all throughout the week and were truly able to capture the people of Montevideo in their element.
Alyssa Ashe, a junior Broadcast Media major at North Greenville University, filmed a documentary for the trip for TWR to truly capture the precious moments that were spent in Uruguay.
She enjoyed the experience and said that she could apply her major with missions which was extremely special. Ashe has been on one previous mission trip to Guatemala and worked in the city and in the village, but she said that this trip to Uruguay is something that she will never forget and will always cherish.
Ashe said she learned the true importance of teamwork. She said, “It was really fascinating to see how God brought my team together.” She said that she learned that every single student on the trip had different strengths and perspectives, so it was beautiful to see what had been created.
She said she learned about how God is opening so many doors for her in her career field so this trip taught her how to be open to the idea of future missions and future opportunities. Ashe said, “God has really opened my heart a lot to his plan for my life.”
