Five reasons why coffee is what you need to survive college
By Carlee Colvard, Staff Writer
Are you addicted to coffee? No worries. You’re not alone. The first thing I do in the morning is roll over and turn on my Keurig. Yes, unfortunately it is beside my bed in case you were wondering. Here’s how you can use your coffee addiction to your advantage and survive college sipping on that cup of joe.
1. How else are you going to make it through that 8 a.m. class?
We’ve all been there. And let’s be honest here – chapel can be just as much of a struggle as your 8 a.m. class. As a fellow college student, I understand the struggle of saying every day that tonight will be the night I finally go to bed early. That NEVER happens… EVER. So why not have a cup of joe to get you through the next day?
2. It can be your life support when you had no other choice but to procrastinate on that English essay.
Some things are just more important in life than an English essay, right? Like maybe working, or eating, or doing laundry, or watching Netflix… Okay, so we all procrastinate and sometimes we need that extra boost to help us stay up to finish an essay due the next day. Whether you get coffee from the caf, your dorm room, or even Waffle House, it makes writing that essay a little easier.
3. Coffee shops are the best places to study… or pretend to study anyway.
Want to hang out with your friends, but you still have all that homework to finish? A coffee shop is the best solution to your problem. Grab some friends and head to a local coffee shop like Tandem, Coffee Underground, Stomping Grounds, The Forest, or Due South. You might as well have a little fun and socialization while you work!
4. It can keep you warm on a chilly fall day.
One of the most beautifully delicious delicacies fall has to offer is coffee, and not just any coffee. We’re talking about the pumpkin lattes. What’s better than drinking a perfectly warm pumpkin beverage on a chilly autumn day? Nothing! The best part is that Einstein‘s offers a seasonal pumpkin latte so you don’t even have to get in your car to go get one!
5. Believe it or not, it IS actually healthy.
Your coffee addiction CAN be justified! According to the Harvard School of Public Health, coffee can decrease your risk of getting type two diabetes, gallstones, heart disease, Parkinson’s disease, and liver cancer so drink, drink, drink!
