An evening of dance

On April 10, North Greenville University’s Swing Dance Club held its monthly meeting. The club offers a lesson on the basics of dance during the first half an hour, where beginners can learn everything from the core steps to fancy lifts. After the lesson, they turn the music up, and it switches to free dance time, when anyone can dance or practice new moves. They have a staff of teachers who are free to teach the attendees any moves they wish to learn during this time. The event is open to all students, from beginners to professionals, to come dance and meet new friends.

Abigail Thompson, a sophomore strategic communications major, and Lane Farmer, a senior Christian studies major, welcome everyone to the class and start off the lesson by teaching the basic footwork.

Thompson and Farmer help Malia Anderson, freshman interdisciplinary studies major, and Jon Rees, a sophomore psychology major, work through learning a new spin.

Eli Rogers, junior Christian studies major, practices a princess drip with Christina Berrier, a sophomore psychology major.

Reagan Jones, freshman English major, and Ayden Murray, freshman Christian studies major, add a side lean into their dance.

Annie Call, freshman musical theater major, practices a new move during the lesson with her dance partner, Kyle Turnpin, freshman physical education major.

Genesis Farrar, freshman art major, and Mason Scott, freshman biology major, learned a new move called the window.
