Hunter Baker, provost at North Greenville University, has recently added another title to his resume: featured guest on World Magazine’s podcast “The World and Everything in It.”

As provost at NGU, Baker oversees all academics, while also teaching courses in American government, political science and honors. Now, his voice is estimated to be heard by about 250,000 listeners every week on his new podcast segment.

Each Wednesday, he joins the podcast as a weekly guest on a segment called “Washington Wednesday.” With the podcast hosts, he discusses prominent news from the past week through the lens of a biblical worldview.

Although Baker didn’t foresee being a weekly podcast guest for “The World and Everything in It,” he has written articles periodically for the World Magazine and has occasionally spoken on podcasts over the years. When his work became increasingly noticed, the podcast hosts invited him to join weekly and contribute his thoughts on news and politics.

The topics he discusses range from Washington politics and presidential news to national events. One of his favorite episodes so far focused on America’s semi-quincentennial, the nation’s 250th birthday.

Baker officially joined the podcast in summer 2025 and quickly realized the workload it requires.

Behind the polished 15-minute segment on Wednesdays, is a week-long process of monitoring the news, narrowing events down to three to four topics and thinking deeply about these subjects so that he can speak clearly and insightfully each episode.

Baker explained that he spends four to five hours a week preparing for the podcast, and that he is heavily involved in the producing process.

“I participate in all aspects. I’m kind of like an unofficial co-producer,” he said.

As Baker has become more comfortable behind the mic, and as listeners have become more familiar with his voice, he has begun to be recognized by his audience. He noted that his audience is mostly middle-aged adults who follow current events and appreciate hearing them discussed through a biblical worldview.

Because his audience is usually seeking biblical perspective, Baker explained that the podcast offers more than just news commentary, it’s a chance to represent Christianity to the public.

He explained that he became a Christian in college during a time when televangelist scandals frequently made headlines. This left him determined to communicate in a more careful and credible way. The podcast offers listeners a platform rooted in faith and thoughtful analysis of everyday events.

Along with talking about news and politics biblically, Baker also appreciates the fact that every single week, people from all around the world hear about NGU when the podcast ends with the line, “This is Hunter Baker, provost at North Greenville University”

“It’s worth the time I put into it,” he said. “Every time we finish, I think, ‘250,000 people just heard North Greenville.’”

“Washington Wednesday” streams weekly on The World and Everything in It. Interested listeners can find the episodes on Apple, Spotify, Audible and the iHeart app.
