Riley Belle Kinard, Visual Arts Editor
Many times you can look around and wonder if we are living in 2025 or have we flashed back to the 90s? Trends and styles are a great way for people to express themselves. 90s fashion icons like Jennifer Aniston and Micheal Jordan influenced trends that we still see today.

Sophomore sports business major Vinny Ward began expressing comeback trends through fashion. Ward knew growing up that he wanted to be in the fashion industry, but at the time he wasn’t sure what that would look like.
Ward said, “My parents have created and owned their own business since they were young, so I had the aspirations to become an entrepreneur growing up.”
Ward started his business “90VNTGE” toward the end of 2022. He grew up watching and playing baseball and football and that is what inspired the style of clothing at his business.
He said, “I found out that vintage clothing was the new and upcoming commodity on the east coast and many of the popular trends were based off vintage sports pieces.”
He saw the impact that vintage sports had on him and the community and decided that he would sell vintage sports inspired clothing. Now, his business has expanded and is now selling vintage clothing for both men and women.
Trends and styles continue to change based on different interests and inspiration. After being in the clothing business for 2.5 years, Ward thinks that the original 90s surf and skater wear is coming back in style and gaining popularity.

Ward said, “The baggy pants and faded out shirts that came from the Los Angeles surf scene is the new style that everyone is into.”
When living in Tigerville close to the mountains, you also see many students wearing warm, outdoor brands around campus. Ward believes that this trend is also on the rise.

He said, “I also believe that mountain wear like Patagonia and L.L Bean from original 90s Oregon fashion based around hiking is the new fashion trend today.”
