Park smart: The truth about campus permits and tickets
At NGU, parking permits and tickets have changed over the years to create a better system for students. Jeff Smith, the chief of campus safety and security, said that parking permits are combined with tuition and have recently increased by $10. So, parking permits now cost $80, and the prices are set by the board of trustees. Permit costs are low compared to other institutions nearby.

NGU’s price is $80, Furman’s is $94.99, SWU’s is $35 for each academic year and BJU’s is $90 for their parking permits.
NGU has introduced a tiered fine system recently as well, where the first offenses have a lower fee which then increases with repeated violations. If a student feels they need to give a voice about their fine, there is a court system they can use. This allows students to present a case and give them a voice about a fine they have received.
The officers also can give out warnings instead of fines in certain situations. Overall, the main goal of this system is to have order while also being fair to the students.
