GameStop, Costco, Petsmart, Petco, Barnes and Noble and T.J. Maxx will all have their doors closed on Thanksgiving day.

In a statement released by GameStop, executive Mike Buskey said that the decision was made to close down so that employees could spend time with family and, “not worry with the stress of where to find the best shopping deals.”

GameStop will still have all of its deals available online on Thanksgiving day.

Costco, one of the largest retail stores in America, will also be closed. A spokesman for Costco told the website Think Progress that Costco employees deserve the holidays off.

“Our employees work especially hard during the holiday season and we simply believe that they deserve the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving with their families,” the spokesperson said.

More and more companies are deciding to stay closed for the holidays because they want to give their employees a break and have found that staying open does not increase their sales by much.  So enjoy thanksgiving with your friends and family, and leave the shopping until Cyber Monday, where you can get the same deals that you would get in the stores, in the comfort of your own home.
