A Jane of many trades, Gloria Biggers, has lived, traveled and experienced so much more than the average college student.

“I graduated high school in 2012 and didn’t really know what I wanted to do,” said Biggers.

Biggers decided to take a year off from school and traveled the world. Her first stop was Maui. She stayed there for three months at a Bible school, living off food stamps, hitchhiking and lived the basic surfer life.

The next nine months were spent in Indonesia such as Bali, Zimbabwe and Lombok. There she lived in various orphanages and was immersed immediately into the culture which was predominantly Muslim.

“One of the customs that the culture had was at funerals they would let the bodies sit out for several days, rotting and deteriorating, yet they would still l kiss the persons face. We were required by the village to kiss the face of the person to abide by their customs,” said Biggers.

Biggers now back in the United States attends college at North Greenville University and works on her print media major. She owns her own doll-making business and continues to live life to the fullest.
