Exclusive video: NGU Tennis plays against Mars Hill on the new courts

A new season saw new venue for North Greenville’s tennis program as the Vance Tennis Complex is complete and operational. The Crusaders got to break in their new court with while hosting Mars Hill University on September 30th.

The men’s team fell overall in the day 6-3 as Sjors van Eck defeated Euquerio Guerrero 6-4, 5-7, 10-5 to claim the only singles win for the men’s team. Sjors van Eck and Marcelo Yshikawa defeated Euquerio Guerrero and Sam Lee 9-8 and Jose Gomez and Alejandro Torre defeated Raymond Donovan and Markus Gattner 8-4 to claim two of the three doubles games for the Crusaders.
The women’s team would fare better winning 5-4. The women would claim a split in the singles matches as Camille Duhan defeated Jade Henke 6-1, 6-0, Christina Kiessling defeated Natalie Hilbig 6-0, 6-3, and Hartley Smith defeated Luz Heilman 6-3, 6-0.
It would be the doubles that would claim victory as the Crusaders took two of three as Aline Ribeiro and Camille Duhan defeated Samantha Echivarria and Jade Henke 8-5, while Christina Kiessling and Ann Huxford would defeat Luz Heilman and Natalie Hilbig 8-3.
The Crusaders are already putting their new tennis complex to work, as they hosted a tennis camp for children ages 6-15 on October the fourth. The camp, from nine in the morning to noon, involved current players interacting and teaching kids the fundamentals of tennis. The camp was to raise money for new equipment and uniforms.
Aside from the courts the complex boasts a new track from the fine people at APT Americas. As the global leader in high performance engineered sports surfaces, APT laid down their Rekortan line of products for the Vance Tennis Complex.
