One of these women will be the next Miss NGU

The anticipation for Fall Break is high, but students will have something to look forward to when they return to school next week. 

North Greenville University is hosting its 61st annual Miss NGU pageant Saturday, October 18, 2014. 

The contestants are required to go through five phases of competition. Each contestant will have to complete a private interview, compete in a physical fitness/sportswear competition, preform a unique talent, participate in an on-stage questionnaire, and model an evening gown. 

The winner will proceed to the Miss South Carolina Pageant where she will represent North Greenville University in June 2015. 

Kaylie Givens from Rocky Mount, N.C. won the pageant in 2013, as Miss NGU 2014. She will pass her crown to the winner of Miss NGU 2015. 

The competition will be at 7:30 p.m. in Turner Chapel. North Greenville students, faculty, and staff will receive free admission. Admission for all other students is $5.00. Ticket prices for non-students are $10.00 each.

This year’s contestants for Miss NGU 2015 include:

Lindsey Welkner 

Lindsey Welkner, of Easley, S.C., is a senior at North Greenville University. She is majoring in Education. 

Katelyn Styles 

Katelyn Styles, of Travelers Rest, S.C., is a freshman at North Greenville University. She is a Biology major. 

Laura Harrison 

Laura Harrison, of Landrum, S.C., is a sophomore at North Greenville University. 

Samantha Monteith

Samantha Monteith, of Savannah, Ga., is a senior at North Greenville University. She is a History major. 

Miranda Gilbert 

Miranda Gilbert, of Chesnee, S.C., is a senior at North Greenville University. She is majoring in Broadcast Media. 

Sarah Conrad 

Sarah Conrad, of Columbia, S.C., is a freshman at North Greenville University. She is a Biology major.

Abigail Hastings 

Abigail Hastings, of Johnsonville, S.C., is a freshman at North Greenville University. She is majoring in Education. 

Kara McCaffrey

Kara McCaffrey, of Walhalla, S.C., is a freshman at North Greenville University. She is an  Intercultural Studies major. 

Shiobhan Fraser 

Shiobhan Fraser, of Duluth, Ga., is a senior at North Greenville University. She is majoring in History.

Amber Martin 

Amber Martin, of Atlanta, Ga., is a senior at North Greenville University. She is a Psychology major. 

Valerie Bostick

Valerie Bostick, of Greenville, S.C., is a sophomore at North Greenville University. She is majoring in Education.
