“I’m going to be a cop so I need the strength training,” said senior Jared Shull.
Shull plans to sign up for weightlifting, one of two mid-semester classes available until Friday, October 17. The other class, golf, will also provide an opportunity to earn one or two credit hours after fall break. These classes will begin on Monday, October 20.
PHED 1100-50 Weightlifting will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at 4 p.m. No background in weightlifting is required. Technique with PVC pipes is the main focus before weights are actually used to prevent injury. Every two weeks, students will learn something new, according to Shull.
PHED 1160-50 Golf will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:10 p.m. Students can expect to learn the basics of playing golf and golf etiquette. “I took the class because I’m going to do radio business and the best way to make business deals is on the golf course,” said junior Patrick Brown.
These classes meet on different days, so students at North Greenville University could potentially pick up both of these classes and get two additional credits. Taking these classes allows students to get the credit hours in half the time.
To register for these classes, go to the Registrar’s Office by October 17. A schedule change form is not required to add the classes.
