The Groundhog Lied: signs spring is coming
Abigail Dickerson, Staff Writer and Photographer
The ice on the lake is melting, which means it is getting warmer outside. Clear skies and warm water are early indicators that spring is making its way to us.
If you look outside you may notice some of the butterflies are coming back. This is a sign that the weather is getting warmer, the plants are beginning to thrive again and spring is on the way.
The temperature is rising and the grub is thriving, which means that bird-watching season is in full swing. If you glance out the window, you may see some migrating birds on their way home.
As the snow melts away, fresh fruits begin to grow. Gardener’s have begun planting their fruit in time for a nice summer harvest. If you walk out into a field, you may just see a blossom. On Feb. 27, 2022, national strawberry day will be celebrated — keep an eye out.
One of the most visible signs of spring is, in fact, the Easter candy. The Peeps have already hit the shelves, along with other holiday candy, so snag some before they’re gone.
