From history to humor: National Sock Day

Believe it or not, socks, the tiny heroes we mindlessly shove on our feet every day without thinking, actually have a dramatic history. They’ve gone from ancient Egyptian split-toe socks to comfortable wool in medieval times, to the Industrial Revolution, where sock manufacturing turned into a full-speed operation, spreading them far and wide. Today, after centuries of upgrades, socks have evolved into colorful, cozy, and sometimes chaotic fashion statements. Yet, they still somehow manage to disappear in the laundry. December 4, National Sock Day, celebrates this journey and gives people the excuse to show off their most iconic pair.
