North Greenville University begins homecoming week 2023 with an opening ceremony to allow students time to hang out, play and meet new people. Opening ceremony takes place on Oct. 23, 2023.
Residence halls are grouped together as teams for the volleyball tournament for opening ceremony. Each team created a unique team name. The “Cool Kids” are ready to go and give it their all in the games.
The “HT (Horton Tingle) Hotties and the Georgia Shawties” gather to strategize a plan for volleyball and work on team spirit.
“Simeruce,” which is Simpson, Emery and Bruce, mingle and get excited for the coming games and fun for homecoming week.
“Marshall Selfee” is Marshall, Self and Trustees residence hall. “Marshall Selfee” is ready to bring their all to the grass courts on the stud field.
“Mandiver Madness,” Martin and Vandiver, have the smallest team, but they are ready to show up and win on the volleyball courts.
“Mr. Jingles” gathers one of the largest groups for the tournament.
During the games, teammates cheer on their own from the sidelines. Uniquely, some even had horns to cheer on a winning point for the team.
Teams play as their teammates rally around the courts to watch, mingle and cheer their friends on.
Opening ceremony allows students to gather together to not only meet new friends but celebrate being at NGU as homecoming week begins. Students watch and celebrate their friends playing in the tournament.
Jordan Bezek, junior interdisciplinary studies major, Lauren Fisher, sophomore education major and Natalie Cannon, freshman worship studies major, enjoy the fun music and nice weather to sit and watch the volleyball tournament.
