There’s always time to treat yourself… on Thursday

North Greenville University strives to create a community on campus, and Treat Yourself is one of the ways this is being accomplished.

If you like free food and drinks, then you should stop by their table outside the Stud on Thursdays. They always have something different to offer any passersby. However, there is no set time, so make sure to keep a look out for their booth.

The program, hosted by Campus Life and Student Engagement, is set up by the campus activities grad assistants.

It can be anything from McDonald’s biscuits to Texas Roadhouse rolls to Red Bull energy drinks, said GA Will Spears.

Student Engagement exists to serve students and create a community, and that’s exactly why this was started a couple years ago. Brittany Hendrix, the director of campus activities, came up with the idea.

“We really believe that small fun can swing open big doors. That’s kind of the idea behind Treat Yourself too . . . You’ll see if you come to our Treat Yourself event there’s tables set up, we’re giving away simple, free stuff, but around this simple event there’s community being built with people being able to talk, being able to laugh with their friends. That’s the heart and the goal of Treat Yourself,” Spears said.

While the booth is set up to give out some snacks to brighten people’s day, the event is trying to accomplish something much deeper. It seeks to unite students through generosity, give them a place to meet new people and help them to feel a greater connection to the campus.

This is the idea behind most NGU campus events.

The snacks are planned months in advance, so be sure to give some feedback to those running the table if you really liked something. You may just see it again.

And if you were not already looking forward to the next opportunity to snag up a snack, here’s a sneak peak of what’s coming up in the next couple weeks: walking tacos, peanuts and popsicles.
