Let’s dribble and pass the ball to the next season: The upcoming NGU basketball season

As the new season for North Greenville University’s basketball season arrives, the players on the team are excited to share how they predict the season will go.

The North Greenville basketball team has had a history of not so legendary statistics and not having a great win to lose ratio. Last season they were 6-21 and a losing streak of eight games.

Although, the roster is looking different this year with three players from last season gone, and the team has adapted six new players. The team’s dynamic has changed to say the least.

The basketball team last season played hard and did well, regardless of their statistics and numbers, each game was close in score and for the duration of the game. The mens team had room for improvement in their endurance to finish the game when the tension rises and as the time clock moves down.

With an all-new team, it’s safe to say that the coaches picked the right players and have worked on the past challenges to where this next season won’t have any of the team’s past problems.

Mason Zick, senior at NGU was asked how he thinks the new team is and the talent this coming year. He said, “The team this year is really different from last year, and I think the talent is overall better, (not referring to the people who left) but a lot of laziness mentality has left, and the coaches are really pushing us to be better and push our limits to perform better during the games”.

When asked how the season will be predicted to go, Zick said, “I have high hopes for this year- and I am not just saying that like every other athlete says right before a season, I really feel it and am confident in this team’s abilities.”

“Not to mention the team’s chemistry is a lot better and I think that is crucial for teamwork and for a team to strive. You are only as good as your abilities to work together…and all the guys get along and are close this year. So stay tuned,” said Zick.

After hearing this year’s team’s breakdown and prediction of what the players think of this year, it sounds like a the basketball team is ready for the season.

From the improvement of brotherhood among the players to help with teamwork, the mixture of new and returning guys to change up the dynamic of the team and the coaching style change to be more focused on endurance, it seems like the team has their game plan in order and has a set outline.

Stay tuned and be sure to support our men’s basketball team this year. Be sure to not miss out on their first game of the year, this Friday night in the school gym on November 11th.
