The top five best gaming soundtracks

Video games. They can be used as an escape from reality and a way to relax within the game’s environment. The storyline, action, ambiance, graphics and music are all qualities that, if good, are part of what makes a video game enjoyable to play. One quality that is particularly important in all games are the soundtracks. Here are five gaming soundtracks that do just that.

The Halo series has amazing soundtracks in general, but the first Halo has such a recognizable tune, making it score the highest on the list. With just a couple of simple notes, many gamers immediately know the origin of the song. I believe the reason we find it recognizable is that Halo had an impact on our lives and the game was well developed. Otherwise, this piece wouldn’t stick out in people’s memory so effortlessly.

The next best gaming soundtrack is also a part of the Halo series because it suits the ambiance of the world inside the game. Halo Reach also happened to be another soundtrack that caught gamers’ attention who had played through the series originally. Reach, once it was released, became a top favorite with its storyline. Since so many people enjoyed the well-made game, gamers want to remember everything.

Taking third place, I chose Skyrim. Skyrim is separate from the Halo series and happens to be a game for action or comfort. If I want to fight a wolf in the game, the action music kicks in. Or if I simply walk around in a town, soothing music fills your ears. A lot of the time music is used to express whether you are in danger or not. Skyrim does a wonderful job at utilizing music in this way.

Fallout three is a game based on a future apocalypse, but its soundtrack gives an old atmosphere to it that somehow represents the future and this is a great representation of the storyline. Something new is now going backward, and its music represents that well.

Lastly, Minecraft. Minecraft is a much calmer game compared to the others listed and its soundtrack proves that well. Most of the music is calm even if you get into a small fight with a spider. Somehow, it makes the atmosphere less scary at times. You can relax to the music while building your own house, mining or exploring its infinite world.
