Review of Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach

Chad Stratton, Staff Writer

Since its first game’s debut in 2014, the “Five Nights at Freddy’s” franchise or FNaF for short has been one of the most successful video game series of the entire horror genre, bringing terrifying and somehow fun content to its players. It has been created by previously failed video game designer Scott Cawthon and has more positive reviews than most games. For example, Dark Station from Metacritic.com reviews that the game is “Entertaining, engaging and enveloping; once Five Nights at Freddy’s clasps its paws around you, it will be hard to let go.”

What You Need to Know Before Playing

The newly made “Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach” brings to fans a lot more lore, action, fun, and horror. With some returning and some new animatronics, the game has a lot more personality. Chica the chicken, and Freddy Fazbear return as Glamrock Freddy and Glamrock Chica. The new additions are Roxanne Wolf, and Montgomery Gator. It is a massive shopping mall style pizza megaplex that has a lot to offer, and you only stay one night!

Plot of the New Game

You play as a little boy named Gregory and are trapped overnight with the animatronics who all have personalities and act as if they are human. In this 1980’s style game, your goal is to survive until the next morning (6 a.m.) all while discovering the hidden secrets of the pizza plex. The good part about this game is you aren’t alone. Freddy helps you along the way, all while your other “friends” (Roxy, Monty, Chica, and a nightguard named Vanessa) try to find you. And, there is another character that has never been seen in the franchise before…

My Review of the Game

The game is a lot of fun, and its graphics are very beautiful and realistic. There is a few problems with the gameplay however. PlayStation rushed Scott Cawthorn and his crew to get this game out before Christmas, so it has some bugs to be squashed. There is a problem with spawn rates as sometimes the animatronics will spawn on top of you if your location has been compromised, resulting in instant capture/death (Whatever happens to you when they get you). It has a few other bugs as well. Overall, the game is a masterpiece and its an amazing addition to the fans of the lore. You are never bored playing the game as there is always something to do and someplace to go. I rate this game four stars out of five.
