The Turnip

Have you ever heard news that sounded so crazy it may not be real? Well, take a look at some of these fantastic stories that you may not believe are real.

Elf On The Shelf Goes Back Into Hiding

After hearing about the stress parents endure during the holiday season due to the Elf on the Shelf, a Georgia judge banned it. Cobb County Superior Court Chief Judge, Robert Leonard, posted on social media that the Elf was going to be banned this year so parents would not have to live under its tyranny any longer.

Because of the pandemic, there was a shortage of these Christmas toys this year. And because sometimes parents forget to move the elves, the children become distressed. These circumstances left the judge with no choice but to ban the Elf on the Shelf from Cobb County, Ga.

New Zealand Potato “Doug” Breaks World Records

While gardening in Wellington, a couple came across a potato larger than they had ever seen. Soon it was given the name Doug, because it was “dug” up from the ground.

After unearthing this large potato, they weighed it, finding it to be nearly eighteen pounds. The couple even put a hat on Doug and wheeled him around in a wagon for others to see. For now, they wait to hear back from the Guinness World Records to see if Doug really is revolutionary.

Felony Charge Dropped After Underpaying Forty-Three Cents

In Harrisburg, Pa., charges of a felony have been dropped after someone underpaid for a bottle of Mountain Dew by 43 cents.

After seeing a “two sodas for $3” sign, the man purchased one soda for $2 and left. After leaving, he was then arrested because he had not known the discount would not apply to only one soda.

The judge charged him with a felony for stealing, even though the total was merely 43 cents. Thankfully his release was argued and the charges were dropped, all over a bottle of soda.
