Crusader football has found its playmaker

There is a new face carrying the Crusader offense this season.

Quarterback Kaelan Riley transferred from Mercer University to NGU in the Fall of 2020.

He was not able to play right away with the Crusaders due to COVID canceling all sports at NGU.

Riley said, “Football was able to get me here which has been an awesome opportunity.”

Along with playing football at NGU, Riley is in the middle of earning his Masters degree.

Kaelan Riley had a high school and college football career one would only hear in books.

In high school, he threw for almost 5,000 yards and 48 touchdowns. During his career at Mercer, he earned SoCon Freshman of the Year and started 21 out of 29 games.

After his stunning college career, he thought his time playing the sport he loved was over, but his best friend, Jireh Wilson, who is one of the football coaches at NGU, caught him by surprise.

Wilson asked Riley while watching their old high school play football if he wanted to continue his football career at NGU, and he said yes.

Riley is the model quarterback the Crusader football team has been looking for. He brings a wealth of knowledge as the leader of the offense.

He is back under the stadium lights, this time wearing red and black.
