North Greenville fall sports have kicked off and have had a busy couple weeks. Men’s and women’s soccer already have several games under their belt with a lot more to go. The women’s record right now is currently 2-2-2 with 2 losses, 2 wins, and 2 ties.
The women’s soccer team’s most recent game was a 4-1 victory over Emmanuel college. Their next game on September 25th, they are looking to get revenge against UNC Pembroke after taking a 1-0 loss last season.
The North Greenville Women’s soccer team has a lot of potential moving forward in their season with hopes of taking their playoff run all the way this year.
In other news, Saturday September 18th, the men’s soccer team played Emmanuel but unfortunately lost 1-0 in hard fought battle. Their record is currently 2-3 and they have some work to do offensively to improve their losing record.
The Crusaders will be hosting Shaw University this upcoming Tuesday with hopes of evening out their record since they are 2-0 at home. Shaw is 1-2 and they are coming off a two-game losing streak, the Crusaders need this win to get the ball rolling again.
Crusader’s football had nationwide coverage this week as they played the Citadel, they took a hard 45-13 loss but kept fighting the whole game. Being on ESPN is a very good look for the team so hopefully the positivity continues.
Next week the Crusaders travel to Erskine with their heads up high looking for a victory. Besides last game, NGU has been looking great on both sides of the ball with a great pass rush and a versatile QB. Like Coach Farrington says to them every day,
“One day at a time and game by game, this season is going to be built by brick with heart in every game.”
All around, North Greenville sports have been very busy and hope to continue to do so. With many games ahead, each team is focused and ready to keep winning. Keeping their focus on and off the field is the most important thing they can do. With COVID fear still being a huge factor, each team has to be cautious with every move they make.
