Humans of NGU: Andrew Zimmerman

Gabriel Childers, Staff Writer

William Andrew Zimmerman is a sophomore criminal justice and legal studies major at North Greenville University. When he’s not studying, he also works with the media ministry team for NGU Chapel and Baptist Campus Ministry.

“I wanted to do something to help change the world. At least, while maybe not have a major impact on it, I can at least help my community and make my hometown better for my friends and my family,” he said. Whether he has a major or minor impact, he wants to help.

He initially wanted to major in paramedical science, but the university did not offer it, so he considered business administration. At some point, he wondered about criminal justice, and that idea stuck. He said one thing that “spurred” him to his major was watching NCIS with his family.

During his free time, he enjoys archery, hiking and Dungeons and Dragons. His love for archery comes from growing up with Lord of the Rings. He particularly liked the character Legolas. When he was 16, he rediscovered his love for archery and became the captain of an archery club after 3 years. His writing for Dungeons and Dragons came from “the creative side of his brain” and his enjoyment of being outside and adventuring.  He also was inspired by Tolkien and C.S. Lewis.

Zimmerman’s life verses are Romans 8:26-30. The verses elaborate on the nature of the Holy Spirit. God helps those in need and those who love him. God justifies and glorifies those who have conformed to the image of Jesus. The verses talk about praying as something we can do even if we do not know what we need.
