Few South Carolina trails boast the notoriety of Swamp Rabbit. The winding 20-mile area bends through downtown Greenville, Furman, and Traveler’s Rest. Nature engulfs Swamp Rabbit, guiding hikers through a lush paradise as they immerse themselves in the outdoors. Bridges looming above the ground and numerous waterfalls ever flowing showcase the depth and dynamic nature of the terrain. Dedicated nature lovers in 2005 took matters into their own hands when plants overwhelmed the trail. Armed with a machete, they cut through the excessive growth, ensuring Swamp Rabbit’s spot as an iconic South Carolina tourist attraction. As of 2016, Greenville County gauged the trail’s economic impact on the area to be $7,000,000 a year. Swamp Rabbit is peak South Carolina.
