Valentine’s Day is the celebration of love. A day filled with chocolate, love letters, and a nice romantic dinner. Maybe this year you want to switch things up and do something different. Instead of just the regular night out to a fancy dinner, you want to take a painting class instead. Don’t worry, there are plenty of activities you could do to make this year’s Valentine’s Day even more special.

If you and your partner are into being active, you could hike up a mountain and have a picnic while watching the sun set. There are plenty of areas around South Carolina for you to do this, such as Caesars Head, Glassy Mountain and Table Rock. Valentine’s Day is the best time to dance! You and your partner could take dancing classes or go out line dancing. You don’t have to be good at it, just have a good time with your significant other. Maybe take it back to your childhood and go to an arcade. Bringing back those memories of Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Q*bert and all those classics you may have played as a child.

Some other ideas you could do, check an item off your bucket list. A lot of people have a bucket list, whether it be skydiving, riding in a hot air balloon or sitting front row at a concert. Make your Valentine’s Day extra special and do something outside the box. It would definitely make Valentine’s Day memorable and a day you’ll never forget. In need of a good laugh? Go catch a live comedy show and make some fond memories for you and your partner.

Romantics stake their claim on Valentine’s Day early and often, but Vision Radio’s Connor Boulet disputes this notion. He makes the case for the lovers’ season being a time that anyone who loves can enjoy.

When asked for a Valentine’s date idea, Madison Trump said, “for a fun date idea, you could go hiking and then find a spot to have a picnic if the weather is cooperating. You could also just go with the basic romantic dinner and movie. As long as you and your boyfriend or girlfriend are together, I’m sure whatever you do will be fun!”

You don’t always have to do something extravagant, it’s okay to do something traditional. Courtney Chestnut said, “Connor and I either go to a semi nice dinner or we go see a movie.”

Another student, Tj Freeman, said, “Valentine’s Day is a day of love. So, we might cook a meal together and after we go and catch a movie, we both want to see. Just making the date special by doing things we both enjoy. It doesn’t always have to be something big or over the top, sometimes it’s good to stick with something simple, because then it may be more meaningful to that special person.”
