1.) Take time to listen and appreciate your friendship.

There will be times when you just want to pour all your problems on your friend. And you’ll expect them to listen and hopefully give you some good advice. But don’t forget that they’re a person too, who have problems just like you. Take time to listen to them and their struggles, and if you have advice to offer, give it to them. Remember to show appreciation to your friend, do something for them that you know they will appreciate. Consider something they would enjoy, or something they would want to do.

2.) Always be honest with them no matter the situation.

Being honest always in a friendship is very important. Honesty is one of the big things that holds together a friendship. And without it, that friendship will break and may not be repaired to the way it was. There may be times that there is a tough call that has to be made. Whether it be with a friend’s decisions or actions. They are going to want you to give them honest advice, don’t tell them what you think they want to hear. Being honest with them will make them respect you.

3.) Be proud of their success and cheer them on.

Never be mad at them because they’re doing well in life and you aren’t. Brag on them, lift them up with encouraging words and make them feel loved. Let them know that you are proud of their success and accomplishments. Push them on to work harder and achieve their goals. A good friend will be happy for their friend. And even if you’re struggling to achieve a goal ask your friend, it’s what they’re there for. If a friendship has devoted friends who cheer each other on, it will be long lasting.

4.) Enjoy the time spent with your friend.

Whether it be sitting and watching a movie together or taking spontaneous road trips. Don’t take that friendship for granted, things can change in an instant. You don’t want to be looking back and wishing that you had made more memories with them.

5.) Explore new things together.

Taking a trip somewhere neither of you have been, going to see a new movie or trying a new food. These are the things that can keep a friendship happy and fresh. These new experiences that you share together will create unforgettable memories, that you both will appreciate later on.
