Recap of students vs. faculty softball game

This past Friday, NGU students played against the faculty at the baseball field at North Greenville University and the faculty took a 5-point victory over the students.
After the first inning, the students had a 3-2 lead on the faculty. Into the top of the 2nd inning, number 3, Chase Bridges, purposefully caused himself to get hit with the ball after it is thrown from the pitcher, Gene Fant. but this attempt at getting to walk to 1st base failed. No runs were made by the students in the top of the 2nd inning.
Onto the bottom of the second inning, pitching, or �bowling� as told by the announcers, for the students was Issac Langdon. During this inning, faculty took the lead 5-2, after two runs followed by a homerun.
In the top of the third inning, a homerun scored by number nine, Drew Reynolds. number one, Gino Ferguson, made it to 1st base. Next up to bat was number 17, Avery McGrail (AKA Gene Fant Jr.) made it to 1st base and Ferguson made it home. With McGrail on 3rd base and number 19, Camden Kendrick, on 1st next up to bat was Langdon. Langdon striked out taking the game into the bottom of the 3rd.
With Faculty still leading the students 6-5, number 12, Kerry Ravan, made it to first base. Next up to bat number 13, Taylor Estep, made a double and Ravan made it to home scoring another point for the faculty. number 13, Josh Styles, ran back and forth trying not to get out, but failed at this attempt. Going into the 4th inning, faculty still took the lead by 4 runs with a score of 9-5.
The students tried to make a comeback going into the fourth inning. First up to bat was number seven, Tristan Edens, he got out after a great catch from the pitcher, Adrian Pater. Next up was number 28, Benjamin London, who made it to 1st base. Number 17, Ian Bailey, almost hit a homerun, but was a little short. London made a run and Bailey made it to 3rd base which made another homerun for the students putting them in the lead with a score of 10-9.
Going into the bottom of the fourth inning, Darien Scott, danced in the outfield as number 24, Keng Yu Chen, stepped up to bat. There was one out and Chen made it to 2nd base. Next up to bat was number four, Franklin Aviles-Santa, who made it to third base and Chen made it home. Another run for the faculty after Styles was up to bat. Another run for the faculty and number 99, Joanna Beasley, made it to second base. Bases were loaded with Beasley on third, number 21, Stuart Floyd, on 2nd and number 14, Chris Sloan, on 1st. Faculty once again took the lead after the fourth inning with a score of 14-9.
No teams scored any points in the fifth inning.
In the top of the sixth inning, Bridges makes it to first base. Bridges got out on his way to second base and Edens also got out and no points were scored by the students.
On the bottom of the sixth inning, there was an out for the faculty after a �FANT-astic� catch from Scott. Number two, Donny Mathis hit an incredible homerun scoring another point for the faculty. Styles made another run and Fant got out. Bases were loaded and an out from Sloan ended thesixth inning with a score of 17-9.
The students had one last chance to make a comeback in the top of the seventh inning. There was a bit of controversy on the field of whether number 13, Faith Therrell, was safe or not. Therrell was safe and London was up to bat. Therrell made it home, London on 1st base and an out by McGrail. Two more runs for the students and the game was over.
Faculty wins with a final score of 17-12. Langdon said he would shave his head if the students won the game, but that didn�t stop the faculty from giving it their all and winning the game. London, who played for the students said, �It was great. I would do it again.�
