The new football league that took the country by storm in its first weeks has decided to suspend all operations just eight weeks into its inaugural season which was originally scheduled to last for 10.

The news comes as a disappointment to league co-founder Bill Polian, the former ESPN analyst. “I am extremely disappointed to learn Tom Dundon has decided to suspend all football operations of the Alliance of American Football,” Polian said in a statement Tuesday. “When Mr. Dundon took over, it was the belief of my co-founder, Charlie Ebersol, and myself that we would finish the season, pay our creditors, and make the necessary adjustments to move forward in a manner that made economic sense for all.”

Dundon is a majority investor for the AAF. He pledged over $250 million to the betterment of the league. According to reports the league was having trouble making payroll for its players. To go over to the business side, an unwritten rule in business is that usually if one is not prepared to take heavy losses in the beginning days of one’s company, this business is probably not going to last long. and the AAF showed why businesses fail so quickly. You have to be prepared to be able to fund yourself if the product you put out there does not catch on at first.

Like Idowu Koyenikan says ““You have to work on the business first before it works for you.” That applies directly in this case to the AAF in that they did not work on their business first, they jumped right in and tried to let the league work for them before spending time working on their business which has led to an immediate suspensions of all operations for the league.

There does not seem to be a likely scenario in which the league will be able to make a comeback at this point. They are looking for a miracle that just does not seem possible at this point. The league for the foreseeable future will be out of sight and out of minds for a lot of fans which will make it even tougher for the league to be able to make a comeback. Many of the league’s best players, including the league’s best Wide Receiver Rashad Ross who has signed with the Carolina Panthers of the NFL. If  History does repeat itself then things are not looking bright for the AAF as when Vince McMahon launched his XFL back in the early 2000’s but it did not last long either.
