As of March 2019, the Mueller investigation on the topic of possible collaboration between President Trump and the Russia was concluded. From a summary that was released, it indicates that such a connection did not exist, but many wish for more than just a summary.

The full report is yet to be released. All that has been released so far is a summary, and people on both sides of the political spectrum are calling for the full report.

Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., the vice chairman of the senate intelligence committee, wished for the release of more than just a summary, “The special counsel’s report must be provided to Congress immediately, and the attorney general should swiftly prepare a declassified version of the report for the public. Nothing short of that will suffice.”

Rep. Doug Collins, R-Ga., member of the House Judiciary Committee, agreed on Twitter.

“After 2 years, the special counsel has concluded his investigation, & I look forward to reviewing AG Barr’s report carefully, when it becomes available. I expect DOJ to release the special counsel’s report to this committee & public w/o delay & to maximum extent permitted by law.”

To no surprise, Trump wasn’t a fan of the investigation nor this so-called “witch hunt”.

““There’s not one shred of evidence that President Trump has done anything wrong.” @GrahamLedger One America News. So true, a total Witch Hunt – All started illegally by Crooked Hillary Clinton, the DNC and others!”

The call for the full report makes sense for either side. Whether or not one supports Trump, this investigation has been almost a year in the making. People want more than a mere summary for such a large investigation.

The entire case began back in 2016, when there was buzz around Russian meddling in the 2016 election. The extent of the interference was extensive. It may sound like the plot of a Game of Thrones episode, but the Russian government took several measures to spy on the United States.

For one, Russians were stationed around the U.S. to collect information. More concretely, there were cyber attacks on over 500 people or institutions. Some of these even targeted election systems, however no votes seem to have been changed. However, many voters’ information was stolen. Some used fake social media accounts to try and stir up controversy.

Where the Russian interference and the Trump campaign meet is on a particular point: Russians had offered dirt on Hillary Clinton and Putin has elaborated on his support for Trump. While there isn’t much concrete information on why Russia would do many of these things, a theory is that Russia’s government was upset with the United States’ interference in Ukraine during Obama’s presidency.

Thus, the new FBI director, Robert Mueller, takes over the investigation started by the previous director to find any connections between Russia and the Trump campaign.

Almost a year later and that investigation is completed. Now, the people wait with baited breath for the release of the entire report.
