Wheres the fire? Whats got sparks flying and people buzzing in downtown Travelers Rest? A firehouse turned coffee shop; I give you Chicora Alley.

Chicora Alley is new to the downtown community, but its already creating quite the chatter. Opening up recently, Chicora Alley has kept a little of the old, but theyve also brought something new.

Co-operator Ben Dixon has long had his sights set on opening a restaurant in Travelers Rest, but it wasnt until last year that his idea really became a reality. When he saw the old fire house for sale, Dixon immediately saw potential.

Chicora Alley has created a unique environment by having a few different things to offer. On one side of the beautifully refurbished fire house theres an open coffee bar with a myriad of pastry choices. On the other end theyve created this raw space where you can be seated to enjoy a meal while looking out the windows that was once an exit for the firetrucks.

This is the third location of Chicora Alley in the upstate community, but this one is bringing some uniquely diverse things to the table. Like other Chicora Alleys, the menu here features things like crab cakes, nachos, and cream cheese enchiladas; however, they also offer things like healthy bowls, street tacos, Asian salad, and a Chimichurri Philly cheesesteak. It doesnt get much more diverse than that!

They also offer jazz every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month, comedy and regular Friday and Saturday music.

Chicora Alley is located at 117 N. Poinsett Hwy. Travelers Rest, South Carolina.
